Instapaper's Update: Speed Reading Option Instapaper's Update: Speed Reading Option

The Instapaper app's main goal is to help you instantly save articles, videos, and web pages in an easy manner and have an offline access to them. The developers also offer a text-to-voice integration for listening to the saved text to simplify the process of perception. One more additional feature is the text highlighting in the saved extract to help you manage it right on your mobile device.

Betaworks, the Instapaper's developer, launched an update to v.6.2 that brings to its users a modified and improved reading experience. They integrated a Speed Reader feature which highlights every single word and switches among them one by one for you. The goal is to improve your reading skills and save much time. In previous versions the developers made a great present to their users – they re-qualified the app from commercial to freeware. But since the 6.2 update release, you are free to use Speed Reader for free up to ten times per month (or become a Premium user and get an unlimited access costing $2.99/month).

To make the new feature (Speed Reader) work, just tap the Speed button and read the word-by-word flying text. “Speed reading in Instapaper uses rapid serial visual presentation (RSVP), showing you one word a time at the speed of your choosing. This method of speed reading is meant to help you eliminate subvocalization, that voice in the back of your mind repeating words as you read them, and reduce time lost scanning between words. The result is a more focused, faster reading experience,” they reported in their official blog. Read the full report here
