Google Makes Another Solid Purchase Google Makes Another Solid Purchase

After Google expanded its constantly growing list of purchases a few weeks ago, the company decided that it's time to let us know of their plans. Thoughthe spokesperson didn't say too much:“I can confirm that we’re excited to welcome the Alpental team to Google, and that they joined a few weeks back, but we don’t have any other details to share.”

The price of the deal is also unknown, but taking into account the fact that Alpental Technologies managed to raise $850,000 in funding on it's own, the search company has probably paid a pretty penny for this acquisition.

Alpental was working on a technology related to a brand new type of wireless network. According to FCC, the technology allows to create a wireless connection with a speed approaching to 7 gigabits per second over a mile's distance. A 5G network? Maybe.

Google can make good use of such technology with Google Fiber or with its Project Loon and the satelite Interner service. The company is rapidly expanding Google Fiber, which means that Google has serious plans to secure a solid position among Internet providers. And here is another small hint.

But we should take all this with a pinch of salt, until 'Big Brother' speaks again.
