Facebook Pages Transitions into E-commerce Platform
Facebook Pages are no longer just a means of advertising. The social network is morphing them into E-commerce platforms with the addition of a brand new buy button. At the moment, the feature is still in its testing stage, but once it gets introduced to the general public, everyone will be able to purchase the things they're interested in, directly from the Facebook Page of the respective company. This addition has the potential to be a major positive shift in the way the users interact with businesses on Facebook.
Facebook has been testing out buy buttons in its News Feed for over a year now, but the transition to Facebook Pages is very important as it will increase the user's interaction with the project and revitalize it. If you didn't know, Facebook Pages are already somewhat similar to Profiles, but they're dedicated to businesses, bands and organizations. They offer a way for the companies to connect with their customers by publishing stories, adding apps, hosting events, etc. Unlike personal profiles, Facebook Pages do not gain friends but fans, which are people who have liked the respective page.
This move comes in the nick of time as Google has just announced (today) that from now on, certain sponsored search results will also feature a buy button on mobiles. If successful, this new addition to Facebook Pages could completely neutralize competitors like Yelp or ForthSquare who are, at the moment, more popular in their respective market sector.
