Instagram's Stories adds Boomerang, links and Mentions
Instagram has just made its Stories section even better, adding several new features that the users can utilize in order to create even better content. From now on, you will be able to add links, mention friends and insert GIFs into your stories. Furthermore, the app now also provides Boomerang compatibility. The update is already rolling out and is available on iOS, Android as well as Windows 10, so if you're in a hurry, you can download it manually from the respective app stores.
Let's start with the Boomerang compatibility as it's my favorite additions from this update. Boomerang is an application created by Instagram, which allows the users to create short videos that loop back and forward. From now on, you can also easily create Boomerang-style Stories.
As you can guess from its name, Mentions allows you to include your friends in the Stories that you create. All you have to do is to type @ followed by the friend's username and it will be displayed underlined in the Story. In case someone else mentions you, you'll instantly receive a notification.
Lastly, the ability to add links allows people to add related URLs to their stories so that the viewers can get more information or purchase the products presented in the video. However, this will only work for verified users.
