Samsung Applies for a Patent on a Round Smartwatch With Gesture Support Samsung Applies for a Patent on a Round Smartwatch With Gesture Support

The patent, that has been published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office last Thursday, reveals some details on a Samsung Smartwatch, which looks very similar to the Moto 360. But that may seem so only on the outside.

Actually, there is almost no info on the size and specs of the device. The patent chiefly describes functionality of the user's interface, physical characteristics and the above mentioned gesture interaction feature.

The whole gesture thing is rather simple — you've got the watch on one of your hands and set your other hand in front of the camera, built into the wristband; it detects the position of your hand and then, depending on the gesture you make, either makes a photo, launches an application, or performs some other predefined operation.

It is only a patent application now, but as you can see, Samsung is up to something really innovative. If the description got you excited, you may follow the link to get acquainted with the full list of features.
