Steve Jobs is well known for his strong passion for glass devices. On designing a first generation iPhone, he was utterlyimpressedwith Gorilla Glass – Corning's damage-resistant cover for portable electronic devices. Jobs wanted iPhone's screen to be made of this glass and ordered as much of this product as Corning could produce in six months. For him, it represented a metaphor - a single whole of designing and engineering thoughts.
Nowadays Apple has moved further and this week the company got a US patent for a method of developing all-glass iPhones and iPads. The corporation is going to fuse glass outer casings into “a five-sided box in which electronic components may be mounted”. This solid smooth glass case is stated to strengthen devices and bring a new aesthetic for Apple future products.
